Brian Steventon

Brian Steventon lives in Wombourne , Staffordshire and travels widely throughout the UK to compile subject matter to produce his art works. He works by painting on the spot , producing sketches / material for reference and also working in the studio.

He is a self-taught artist, but is an elected Full Member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists and also an elected member of the Easel Club, Birmingham Art Circle, Birmingham Watercolour Society and is also a member of the Wolverhampton Society of Artists.

He works in loose impressionistic style, in Watercolour, Acrylic and Oils. He is influenced by Harry Becker, Edward Seago, Edward Wesson, John Singer Sargent , Trevor Chamberlain , Ken Howard and more latterly John Yardley. Very much in the true English tradition of watercolour painting and Plein air Oils .

The works produced aim to depict light on whatever subject matter. Light is all around us, we exist within it but don't always see it in every day life. These works depict those every day glimpses of life that can are captured in Brian's works.

His subject matter ranges from landscape scenes, Street scenes, People/Interior, Marine/Harbour subjects, Still Life / Flowers. His works are in numerous collection both in the UK, Europe and USA. He has held Solo exhibitions and his work is sold in numerous outlets and Galleries in the UK. His works have been produced as Victorian Jigsaws and as Limited Edition prints.
