Essex Bridge
The bridge was built by the Earl of Essex in the 16 th century. Originally the bridge had forty-two arches making it the longest packhorse bridge in England. Today only fourteen of the arches remain but it is still the longest packhorse bridge in England. The bridge in places is only 4 feet wide.
