Stafford Poetry Competition 2010The 2010 Stafford Poetry Competition has been launched with a top prize of £1000. The competition has been organised by Staffordshire Library Service and funded by Stafford District Arts Council. Open to anyone, of any age, from anywhere, potential entrants now have until 28 February 2010 to submit a poem of no more than 40 lines for the consideration of the judge, Michael Hulse, a prize winning poet and university lecturer. The winning poet will receive a prize of £1000 and five runners up will receive a prize of £50 each. There is also an extra prize of £250 for the best poem with a local Staffordshire connection. This is an additional prize and may (or may not) be awarded to the first prize winner or a runner up. All entries to Stafford Poetry Competition should be posted to: Stafford Poetry Competition Entries must also be accompanied by a cover sheet including the name and address of the entrant and the title(s) of the poem(s) entered, as well as a cheque for £4.00 made payable to Staffordshire County Council (plus £3.00 each for any extra poems).
